DENVER – The Illinois State men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday, as the Redbirds fell at the hands of No. 43 ranked Denver by a final of 7-0 at the Denver Tennis Park. With the defeat, the Redbirds finished conference play at 3-2 overall.
Denver picked up the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots to take an early lead in the match. From there, it was all Pioneers, who picked up straight-set wins in each of the six singles matches to come away with the win and finish the regular season 21-0. Denver will be the top seed in the Summit League Championship and will face either Drake or Omaha in the semifinals.
The Redbirds will be the No. 3 seed in the Summit League Championship, which will be played at Waukee Northwest High School Tennis Complex in Waukee, Iowa, with Drake serving as host. The Redbirds will take on the No. 2 seed Drake on Friday, April 19, at 6 p.m.
