CORAL SPRINGS, Texas – After having five golfers named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars List, and the program's first First Team Academic All-American, the Illinois State women's golf team earned the 20th-best team grade point average (3.815) in NCAA Division I for the 2023-24 academic year.
Started in the 2004-05 academic year, this season marks the second consecutive appearance – and sixth total – by ISU on the top-25 list, as last season's team ranked 10th. The team also earned top-25 honors in 2019 (18th), 2017 (10th), 2016 (2nd), and 2009 (22nd).
The team set school records during the season for scoring average (297.4), total individual rounds at or under par (35), and the three individual medalist honors were second-most in program history. Individually, Jinyoung Yun set single-season records for total rounds at or under par (14), and season scoring average (72.563), as the squad advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the second time in the last three seasons.
Yun was named the MVC Golfer of the Year for her performance during the season, while Schrock was named the MVC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Yun, Schrock, and Avalon Woodward each earned All-MVC honors, as the trio also earned CSC Academic All-District plaudits.
