NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State baseball will travel to Madison, Wis., for a 12-inning scrimmage with Milwaukee, Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m., as gates open at 11:30 a.m.
The contest is hosted by the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League and will be the first Division I baseball game in Madison in over 33 years. The last NCAA Division I-sanctioned game in Madison took place on May 10, 1991, before the University of Wisconsin disbanded its baseball program.
The Redbirds have had multiple players play for the Mallards in recent years. Senior pitcher and newcomer Shuto Tiger Okumura played in 15 contests for the Mallards over the last two years. Former Redbird and 2025 MLB Draft 10th round pick Shai Robinson also spent time in Madison. Robinson made an appearance in 57 games over the last two seasons and recorded 56 hits with 37 runs batted in for the Mallards.
