NEW YORK, N.Y.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team (3-2) will travel to New York, N.Y. this weekend for matches against Fordham University (2-1) inside Cary Leeds Center on Friday and Saint John's (4-0) at the USTA National Tennis Center on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Redbirds prevailed over the Marquette Golden Eagles of the Big East Conference by a score of 5-2 on Saturday inside Sprovieri Tennis Complex. ISU claimed two doubles wins and four singles victories.
A LOOK AT THE BIRDS
Illinois State has opened up the spring with wins over Western Illinois, University of Illinois-Springfield and Marquette. The Redbirds are led by the No. 1 doubles pair of Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli. In singles competition, Caculovic has been in the No. 1 singles slot throughout the first five contests of the 2025 campaign.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Fordham is a member of the Atlantic-10 Conference. The Rams battled to a 5-2 win over Temple University on Sunday (Feb. 2). Fordham was led by Julianne Nguyen who bested Irmak Ozturk of Temple at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles competition, Lorraine Bergmann and Lily Bergmann defeated Temple's Shevita Aulana and Maria Martinez at the No. 2 doubles position.
SCOUTING THE RED STORM
Saint John's is a member of the Big East Conference. The Red Storm picked up a 4-0 over Morgan State on Sunday (Feb. 2). Saint John's was led by Nicoline Sartz-Lunde who won at No. 1 singles against Hannah Smith by a score of 6-1 (UF).
In doubles play, Alicia Gomez and Victoria Papadopoulo battled to a 6-1 win at No. 1 over Morgan State's Hannah Smith and Aleksandra Evdokimov.
