BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- Illinois State women's tennis (6-6) will host Chicago State (0-4) on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Tomorrow's match will be a makeup from a contest that was scheduled earlier this season at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
ALL-TIME MEETINGS
This will be the tenth meeting between the Birds and Cougars. ISU holds a 9-0 overall record. The first meeting was on February 7, 2016 and ended in a 7-0 Redbirds as Illinois State swept singles play and picked up the doubles point.
LAST TIME OUT
The Redbirds dropped a match up with Utah State (5-5) of the Mountain West Conference on Monday, March 10 by a score of 6-1 in Los Angeles.
Despite the Birds dropping the doubles point to the Aggies, junior Nuria Sanz (Valencia, Spain) and freshman Nicole Iosio (Cordenons, Italy) picked up a victory at No. 3 (6-3). In singles play, graduate student Elena Jankulovska battled to a 0-6, 7-6 (3), 1-0 (10-8) win at the No. 5 position.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Chicago State most recently fell to Eastern Michigan 4-0 on March 8. The Cougars have played Big Ten Opponents Indiana and Illinois in 2025. In 2024, the Cougars posted an overall record of 16-13 and 5-1 in the Horizon League. Chicago State advanced to the NCAA First Round where the Cougars fell to the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines by a final of 4-0 inside Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, MI.
UP NEXT
The Birds will travel to Peoria to face the Bradley Braves this weekend, before returning to outdoor play for two consecutive matches on March 29 against UNI and March 30 when ISU hosts the Drake Bulldogs. Both matches will be played at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
