ST LOUIS, MO. -- Illinois State women's tennis had four student-athletes selected for All-MVC honors as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman Nicole Iosio (Cordenons, Italy) was tabbed All-MVC First Team singles honors for Flight 5 while fellow freshman Sophie Marie Lowe (Wimbledon, Great Britain) received All-MVC Second Team honors for Flight 6.
This season, Iosio held a 12-5 overall record while going 6-1 in the MVC at No. 5 . During the spring, Iosio compiled a six-match win streak from March 19-April 13, including three road wins against MVC opponents.Â
Meanwhile, Lowe finished the regular season with a 6-0 singles slate, going a perfect 4-0 in the MVC at No. 6. The freshman enters her first MVC Tournament appearance with three straight victories in conference play.
Graduate student Elena Jankulovska (Skopje, Macedonia) and freshman Emma Lindh (Malmo, Sweden) earned doubles All-MVC First Team accolades. This is Jankulovska's third time taking All-MVC honors, while Lindh is one of only two freshmen honored for their doubles play, joined by Murray State's Bruna Melato.Â
The pair of Lindh and Jankulovska (Doubles Pair 2) posted a 5-2 record at the No. 2 spot during conference play. Overall, the duo finished 10-7 in doubles action, and enter the MVC Tournament on a three-match win streak with wins over Valparaiso, UIC, and Belmont.
The No. 3 seeded Birds will face the No. 6 Drake Bulldogs in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Championships on April 25 in Valparaiso, Indiana.
