History at the Event: During the previous three seasons, Illinois State has opened their season at this event, and has fared well, including winning the tournament in its first season, and finishing as runner-up in 2023. The 2023 season saw the Redbirds record the then-second-lowest tournament score in school history, while the 856 from the 2022 season remains tied for the 25th-lowest tournament score in the history of the program. The team's opening-round 278 in 2023 remains tied as the 16th-lowest round score in school history, while Alex McCulla's tournament score of 199 in 2023 remains tied for the lowest tournament score in school history.
