NORMAL, Ill – The Illinois State women's tennis returns to action on Wednesday, when the Redbirds host in-state foe Western Illinois for a non-conference match at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois. First serve is set for 12:30 p.m. CT.
SCOUTING THE REDBIRDS
•   Illinois State's No. 1 doubles tandem of Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli opened the dual meet season with a big win over the Boilermakers and for their efforts, the duo was named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week.
•   The Redbirds (0-2) dropped another close decision by a score of 4-3 last Friday at Western Michigan, before their scheduled home meet with Butler was postponed on Sunday due to weather.
•   Caculovic and Pomarolli improved to 2-0 on the spring season for the Redbirds, after the duo picked up a 6-3 win over WMU's Lola Glantz and Marielou Baudouin.
•   Pomarolli picked up one of three singles victories for the Redbirds at Western Michigan on Friday, as she secured a 6-4, 6-4 win over WMU's Frida Weijerman at the No. 2 spot to keep the Redbirds alive in the match.Â
SCOUTING THE LEATHERNECKS
•   The Leathernecks (0-2) are off to an 0-2 start to the spring season, after dropping matches to UI Indy and Marquette last weekend.
•   Mana Fawcett was named the Ohio Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week, after she went 2-0 at No. 3 singles during the Leathernecks' matches against UI Indy and Marquette.
•   It's a busy week for WIU, as they will take on Chicago State (Friday) and Valparaiso (Sunday) on the road to cap off a three-match week.
