SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – It was a quick trip Friday for the Illinois State women's tennis team, who headed to the state capital for a match with Illinois-Springfield. The Redbirds (6-2) had little trouble with the Prairie Stars (1-5) and rolled to a shutout 7-0 win at the Springfield Racquet & Fitness Center.
The Redbirds picked up the win in doubles, earning victories on all three doubles courts to sweep the action early. ISU then went a perfect 6-0 in singles action, with each court winning in straight sets.
Illinois State is back in action on Saturday, February 28, when it travels to Nashville to take on Lipscomb at 10 a.m.
