WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Illinois State begin a two-match road swing against a pair of ranked Big Ten Conference opponents on Thursday, with the Redbirds (4-6) falling by a score of 4-0 to the Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The Boilermakers picked up the double points, with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The No. 3 duo of Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett did pick up the lone win of the match for the Redbirds, as they defeated JD Velasquez and Mujtaba Ali-Khan by a score of 6-4. In singles action, Purdue earned wins at the No. 4-6 spots to clinch the match. Action at the No. 1-3 spots was left unfinished, following the clinching win for the Boilermakers.Â
The Redbirds are back in action on Friday, February 27, when they head East on I-74 to take on No. 32 ranked Illinois at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign, with first serve set for 12:30 p.m. CT.
