CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – For the second day in a row, Illinois State faced off against a Big Ten Conference opponent as the Redbirds traveled East on I-74 to take on No. 32 ranked Illinois in Champaign. The result was the same as the day before against No. 72 Purdue, as the Illini defeated the Redbirds by a score of 4-0.
The Illini picked up the doubles point, with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. In singles action, Illinois earned wins at the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 spots to clinch the match. Action on the remaining courts was left unfinished, following the clinching win for the Illini.
The Redbirds return to the courts on Wednesday, March 11, when they begin their Spring Break trip in California against Sacramento State.
