ST. LOUIS – Illinois State's No. 3 doubles tandem of Emma Lindh and Vittoria Benedetti went 2-0 last week in a pair of team wins at home for the Redbirds. For their efforts, the duo was named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.
This marks the second time a Redbird duo has won Doubles Team of the Week, after the team of Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli won the honor on January 20.
Last Wednesday in a 4-3 win over in-state foe Western Illinois, the duo defeated Nadezhda Petkova and by a score of 6-4 to pick up their first win of the week. Then on Sunday in a 4-1 win at the Evergreen Racquet Club against Saint Louis, Lindh and Benedetti cruised to a 6-2 victory over Fiorella Duran and Ella McLeod.
The Redbirds (2-2) are back in action for a pair of matches this weekend, with a Noon match on the road against Milwaukee on Saturday followed by a Sunday morning match in the Windy City against Chicago State.
