NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State capped off the Redbirds Duals in style, as the Redbirds won five of seven doubles matches and swept singles matches against Bradley on the final day of action at the Gregory Street Courts.
The day started with two rounds of doubles, as ISU won five of seven matches overall. The duo of Nicole Iosio and Molly Carlberg picked up a win over Valpo in the first round, and then Iosio was paired with Ella McLeod to earn a win over Butler in the second round. Sophie Marie Lowe was also 2-0 in doubles action, pairing with Emma Lindh to defeat the team of Jolene Fernandes and Andrea Delgado of Valpo in the first round of the day and then teaming up with newcomer Anna Houpt in the final round to pick up a win over Butler.
In singles action, the Redbirds were 5-0 against their I-74 rivals from Bradley. Emma Peretti, Iosio and Houpt each won in straight sets, while Vittoria Benedetti and McLeod each earned third-set tiebreaker wins to cap off a stellar day of tennis for ISU.
The Redbirds will be back in action next weekend, when they host their Valley counterparts in the annual Redbird Invitational (Oct. 2-4).
