Redbirds to Give Support in Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State soccer team will be closing out the first of its final-three games of the 2010 spring schedule, at the second-annual Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game April 10.

The honorary doubleheader game will be hosted by Bradley at Shea Stadium in Peoria, Ill. The Braves' men's soccer team will compete against Louisville, followed by the Redbirds taking on conference foe Creighton.

Head soccer coach Drew Roff is honored to be a part of the Danny Dahlquist memorial game.

"We are very excited to be playing in the Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game at Bradley," Roff said. "It is pretty rare to play a conference opponent in a spring match, but we didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to be a part of such a special event."

Admission to the Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game will be free, but donations to the Danny Dahlquist Memorial Fund will be accepted at Shea Stadium throughout the day. The exhibition game against the Bluejays will begin at 5 p.m.

After the exhibition at Bradley, ISU soccer will go on the road for one more game before finishing the spring schedule at home.

"Our last three games of the spring season are very important," Roff said. "We have a lot of players that are going to have to step up in increased roles next fall and these three games should really be beneficial to their development. We are hoping that a strong finish to our spring season will help lay the foundation for a successful fall."

In the second-to-last game of the spring schedule, Illinois State will be competing against the Purdue Boilermakers at Kuntz Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind. The game is set to start at 6:30 p.m. April 16.

The Redbirds will host regional opponent Northern Illinois, April 18 at 1 p.m. on Adelaide Street Field on ISU's campus. The game against the Huskies will be the final game of the Redbird's spring schedule.
