NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head soccer coach Drew Roff announced the appointment of Jim Schneiderhahn as the new assistant coach for the Redbirds Wednesday afternoon. Prior to joining the staff at ISU, Schneiderhahn served as the head coach at Division II Emporia State University for five seasons.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to be associated with such a great athletic tradition and soccer program as Illinois State," Schneiderhahn said. "Professionally, this will be a tremendous challenge, but one I am very excited to take part in."
Schneiderhahn coached eight players to All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) status while with the Hornets, including two-time second-team honoree Jessica Decker. Under his direction, ESU was 9-77-9, but Schneiderhahn provided stability for a program that saw four head coaches in as many seasons prior to his arrival.
Before his tenure as the head coach at Emporia State, Schneiderhahn served as the recruiting coordinator and goalkeepers coach at Tulane and spent five seasons as the head coach at Benedictine College, where he coached five All-Americans, seven all-region players and 11 all-conference selections.
Schneiderhahn is a 1990 graduate of Benedictine and holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National "A" Coaching License.
