ST. LOUIS - For the second-consecutive week, Illinois State freshman Rachel Tejada was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week. Tejada scored both goals for the Redbirds in their 3-2 loss to Boston last Friday.
The Troy, Ill., native currently leads the MVC with 10 points and four goals, and is tied for the league lead with two assists and 11 shots. Tejada has scored multiple points in each of her first three collegiate games, including a pair of four-point performances in her last two.
Illinois State will return to the pitch this weekend for a pair of matches with in-state rivals Northern Illinois and DePaul. ISU will host the Huskies Friday at 4 p.m., before traveling to Chicago for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Blue Demons Sunday.
