NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State soccer welcomes Red Alert members to its regular season home-opener Friday, Aug. 23, against Miami (Ohio), for Red Alert Day held at Adelaide Street Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. The first 75 Red Alert members in attendance will receive a free soccer scarf at the main entrance.
In addition to Red Alert Day on opening weekend, ISU soccer will also hosts its annual Pack the Field game Sunday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m., when the 'Birds take on Wisconsin, with the goal of breaking last season's record-setting attendance crowd of 1,085 fans. Sunday's game is slated for 1 p.m. and students in attendance are encouraged to sit in the stands behind the goal, as it is the newly designated student section.
Students are urged to come out to the "Back the Birds BBQ" prior to the start of the Redbird soccer vs. Wisconsin game, where they can enjoy games, giveaways, music and free food, while supplies last. The BBQ will run from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., and will be held in the G-82 parking lot, located in between Adelaide Street Field and the Redbird Track and Field Complex. Following the conclusion of the game, the team will be signing autographs for interested fans.
Game admission is free for the entire 2013 season; however, one lucky fan will win a free Reggie Redbird appearance upon the completion of a Pack the Field coupon at the main entrance. Details of the Reggie Redbird appearance will be coordinated by the marketing and promotions staff, after a winner is chosen.
Look for the Pack the Field coupons around campus at Redbird Arena, the Alamo II, Horton Field House and other various businesses throughout Bloomington-Normal for your chance to win.
