ST. LOUIS – Illinois State soccer forward Rachel Tejada has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The award is Tejada's third of the season.
Tejada continued to rewrite the record books this past week. Sunday against Indiana State Tejada tallied the 39th assist of her career, which tied the MVC record. She now owns the points, goals and assists record in the conference. Tejada also netted two goals Wednesday against Northern Iowa. That gives her 12 on the season, which is tops in the MVC. She also leads the league in assists with eight.
College Sports Madness also named Tejada the MVC Player of the Week earlier Tuesday.
ISU clinched the MVC regular season title with the win over Indiana State. It's the second-straight title for the Redbirds and their 10th overall.
The conference clincher comes with one MVC game still on the slate. The Redbirds travel to Drake Saturday to wrap up conference play and they are looking for a perfect 6-0 MVC record for the second-straight year.
