NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer forward Rachel Tejada has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week and also the Chicagoland Soccer News Player of the Week after her play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
It's the second week in a row that Tejada has been selected for both awards. Last Saturday against South Florida she recorded five points on two goals and an assist. In the 27th minute she assisted Dagny Olson and then in the 33rd and 56th minutes she scored two of her own.
Tejada and the Redbirds travel to Los Angeles, California, to face No. 11 Pepperdine in the second round. The Waves enter the match off a shootout win in the first round against USC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
