NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State soccer team will face a difficult test in its final nonconference match of the season as Oklahoma travels to Normal, Illinois, for a Friday match.
The Redbirds are fresh off a 2-1 win against Loyola Wednesday night at Adelaide Street Field. With the victory, ISU moved its record to 4-6-2 on the season. The win was the first Valley win of the season for the Redbirds.
Oklahoma enters the match just outside of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Top 25. The Sooners are the top vote-getter outside the Top 25 and enter with a record of 7-4-1. Oklahoma defeated Oral Roberts, 2-1, Tuesday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
ISU has faced one Big 12 team this season, dropping a, 2-0, decision to TCU, Aug, 30.
The Redbirds are led by Lauren Koehl. Koehl has scored in three-straight games and leads the team in goals (4) and points (10). Ali Farkos dished out her third assist Saturday night, which gives her the team lead in that category. She also netted her first goal of the season Wednesday night.
Kickoff Friday is set for 11 a.m., and admission is free to all home games.
