Heat Sheets/Schedule of Events
"It is almost like a home meet because it is right down the road, and it will be nice to have our whole team back together again this week," director of track and field/cross country Jeff Bovee said. "It should be a great chance for good weather and being a twilight meet, the winds should die down, allowing for good times."
The Redbirds had a short turnaround, as the teams split into two squads last weekend for the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Arizona, and the Lee Calhoun Memorial Invite in Macomb, Illinois.
In Arizona, Anderson Devonish finished with a first-place, personal-best time in the 400-meter dash at the Sun Angel Classic. Freshman JD LaFayette also represented the Redbirds well in the southwest, finishing fifth in the 800-meter open race with a personal-best time of 1:51.03. CJ Hamilton clocked a season-best 800-meter time of 1:53.15 to place 11th overall.
At Western Illinois, Elise Anderson finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11. LaDaisha Steen-Yates, Emily Cowan and DeAsia Garret finished 6-7-8 with times of 12.34, 12.36 and 12.55, respectively. Cowan led the sprinters in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.43 to place third. Rayanne Wright sprinted to a 400-meter time of 57.37, finishing second in the field, while Kimi Sanden also recorded a top-five finish for the Redbirds in the 800-meter race, clocking a time of 2:18.00.
In the high jump, Haley Becker jumped to a personal-best mark of 1.57 meters to finish third in the field. Amanda Young also jumped to a personal-best in the pole vault, finishing fourth with a vault of 3.40 meters. Patrice Jones led the Redbird women in the long jump with a best mark of 5.30 meters.
Jake DeJaegher finished first in the high jump field with a best mark of 1.95 meters, while Logan Zeman notched a third-place finish.
