NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State soccer team will host Iowa Friday at 7 p.m. in the club's final exhibition match before the regular season begins. The Hawkeyes will make their first trip to Adelaide Street Field since 2002.
ISU is fresh off of a 4-0 win over Western Illinois in an exhibition kickoff Tuesday. The Redbirds scored early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead and then added three late goals for the final 4-0 decision.
Iowa will be the first of four Big Ten teams Illinois State will see this season. The Redbirds open the regular season at Ohio State before facing Illinois in the home-opener Aug. 23. Later in the season, ISU will travel to Wisconsin for a Sept. 6 match.
Iowa and Illinois State have met just two times in regular-season play. The two teams split a home-and-home series between 2001 and 2002.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and gates will open an hour and half prior to the kick.
