NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State soccer team looks to snap a two-game losing streak this weekend with a pair of matches versus Western Michigan and Central Michigan.
The Redbirds dropped matches to George Mason and Navy last weekend and are currently 2-5-1. ISU will wrap up a five-game road trip this weekend before starting Missouri Valley Conference play Sept. 26.
Friday, the Redbirds travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to face Western Michigan. ISU defeated Western Michigan, 1-0, in 2014, and the Broncos enter this year's match at 3-2-1. Illinois State will then travel to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, for a Sunday match against Central Michigan. The Chippewas are 1-4-1 this season and ISU won last year's meeting, 5-1.
ISU took 31 shots last weekend, including a season-high 23 against Navy. Emily Dickman and Kelli Zickert each scored their first goal in the loss to Navy, which brings the season total to eight players who have scored at least one goal. In addition, five players have at least one assist.
Kickoff Friday is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CST while Sunday's match will kick off at 12 p.m. CST.
