NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State soccer team looks to bounce back from a Missouri Valley Conference-opening defeat, when it hosts Loyola Wednesday night in Normal, Illinois.
The Redbirds lost their first MVC game since Oct. 2012 Saturday night in a, 3-2, loss to Drake. ISU held a two-goal lead in the game, but Drake scored three times in the final 15 minutes to secure the victory and snap a 10-game losing streak against the Redbirds.
Loyola enters the match 0-0-1 in the Valley after playing to a draw against Evansville. Illinois State defeated Loyola, 2-1, in overtime last season in Chicago on its way to a second-straight MVC regular-season crown.
The Redbirds are led by Lauren Koehl. Koehl has scored in two-straight games and lead the team in goals (3) and points (8). Ali Farkos dished out her third assist Saturday night, which gives her the team lead in that category.
Kickoff Wednesday is set for 7 p.m., and admission is free to all home games.
