NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State soccer team has announced five upcoming summer camps beginning in April. All camps will be held at Adelaide Street Field on the campus of ISU and will be under the direction of head coach Eric Golz and his staff of Brad Silvey and Sarah Tompkins.
"We can't wait to get started with our spring and summer camp schedule," said Golz. "We have the opportunity to train and get to know the next generation of soccer players. These kids are full of energy and passion for the game. Both our staff and team really enjoy these opportunities. We think our 2016 camp schedule will allow us to work with a variety of individuals and teams across multiple age groups, while showcasing our great program and University."
The Redbirds will host three Redbird ID Camps throughout the summer. The camps will be held April 10th, June 4th and July 9th. The camps will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a registration fee of $100.
Redbird Elite ID camps are designed for those that aspire to be collegiate student-athletes. These camps are open to high school aged girls, with an emphasis on holistic soccer development through technical, tactical, physical and psychological training. The camps will each be capped at 40 participants to provide individualized attention through both training and match play. Goalkeeper specific training will be provided at all of the ID camps. All ID camps will be instructed by the Illinois State Soccer coaching staff and players.
From June 13-16 Illinois State will host its Redbird Junior Day Camp. The coed camp is open to kids ages 5-12, and campers will have the option to attend for a full day or half day. Full-day campers will attend from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and pay $220, while half-day campers will attend from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and pay $120. The Junior Day Camp will provide a fun and competitive environment that will both develop their soccer skills as well as their love for the game of soccer.
From July 15-17, ISU will host its Team Residential Camp. Campers will be able to spend the night on the ISU campus while participating in three days of soccer. The cost is set at $295 for those who elect to stay overnight and $225 for campers who choose to commute.
The Redbird Soccer Team camp will be offered to both club and high school teams of high school aged girls. The team camp will offer team training designed to address the needs of each team as well as competitive matches each evening, all of which will help teams prepare for their upcoming seasons. In addition to team training, there will be goalkeeper specific training during each session. Instruction will be provided by the ISU soccer staff as well as other collegiate coaches representing NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III programs.
