Women’s Soccer Adds Two More Student-Athletes to the Roster

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's soccer program has added transfer Angel Krell and incoming freshman Mehgan Rickett to the roster, it was announced Monday by head coach Eric Golz.

Krell, who hails from Stacey, Minnesota, will have three years of eligibility at ISU, after playing her freshman year at Auburn in 2015. She saw action in seven contests at the forward position for the Tigers and logged 44 minutes of playing time.

Prior to Auburn, Krell played four years at Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, Minnesota, where she led the team in scoring all four years and helped her squad win the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup in 2014.

"We are excited that Angel has made the choice to transfer to ISU," Golz said. "She will be a valuable addition to our program. Angel is a goal scorer and has the ability to help our attack become more dynamic going forward and more clinical in our finishing. We look forward to getting her acclimated to the program and continuing her development as a person, student and player here at ISU."

Rickett is from Mount Prospect, Illinois, and played three years as a goalkeeper at Prospect High School. She posted 11 clean sheets during her senior season while recording a 0.87 goals against average en route to being named All-Mid-Suburban League, All-Sectional Honorable Mention, All-Area and the team's most valuable player. Rickett's plans to major in secondary education (history) at ISU.

"We are looking forward to adding Mehgan to the program," Golz said. "She has a high ceiling to continue to develop as a goalkeeper, and she will help to provide more depth and competition within that position this fall."

The duo joins a nine-member recruiting class that features Emily Adelman, Abby Basler, Kate Del Fava, Paige Filipek, Alyssa Kaufman, Megan McEachern, Brittany Paganucci, Haley Smith and Mikayla Unger, who all signed during the February signing period. Krell was teammates with Smith and Unger at Shattuck-St. Mary's.
