ST. LOUIS – The Illinois State women's soccer team came out with two All-MVC First-Team selections, one Second-Team selection, one Honorable Mention pick, and two selections for the All-Freshman team, as announced by the league.
Senior Kelli Zickert and sophomore Kate Del Fava received All-MVC First-Team honors, with senior Emily Dickman being selected for the All-MVC Second-Team. Additionally, sophomore Mikayla Unger received Honorable Mention accolades.
Zickert led Illinois State in points and assists in 2017, scoring four goals and notching six assists. Del Fava was the anchor of the Redbird defense this season. She was named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9 and scored two goals throughout the season for ISU. Dickman was second on the team in points for ISU, scoring four goals for the Redbirds this season, while also adding four assists. Unger played in all but one game for the Redbirds this season, tallying four goals and two assists. She also received MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 16.
Freshmen Ashley Santos and Sarah Lafayette were selected for the MVC All-Freshman team. Santos was a staple in the Redbird midfield this season, playing in every game and starting all but one for ISU. Lafayette made an immediate impact offensively for the Redbirds, scoring four goals and notching one assist in her debut season. Three of her four goals were game-winners.
