NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State soccer team will host three summer camps, including two Redbird Elite ID camps and a Junior Redbird Day Camp. The camps will be held at Hancock Stadium and Adelaide Street Field and will be under the direction of first-year head coach Brad Silvey and his staff of Sarah Tompkins and Scott Myers.
"We are thrilled to announce our summer camp series," said Silvey. "Our focus within each of our camps is to produce an environment where each camper will receive age-appropriate instruction while being challenged within the game and building a passion for the sport. We have a tremendous staff, wonderful facilities and quality curriculum that will guarantee for an incredible camp experience."
Redbird Elite ID camps are designed for those that aspire to be collegiate student-athletes. These camps are open to girls from grades eight through 12, with an emphasis on holistic soccer development. The camps will each be capped at 40 participants to provide individualized attention through both training and match play. Goalkeeper specific training will be provided at the ID camps.
From June 13-15 Illinois State will host its first Overnight Elite ID camp. The camp will be offered to all girls from grades seventh through 11th. This camp is for the elite player that is considering a collegiate soccer career. Campers will be exposed to a challenging, competitive and enjoyable atmosphere. Each attendee will be put into situations where they can learn and develop in all facets of the game: technically, tactically, physically & mentally. Campers will receive instruction from both the ISU coaching staff and current players. There will be a two-day and three-day option, allowing for both overnighters and commuters.
From July 10-13, ISU will host its Junior Redbird Day Camp. The coed camp is open to kids from ages five through 12, and campers will have the option to attend for a full-day or half-day. Full-day campers will attend from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., while half-day campers will attend from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Junior Day Camp will provide a fun and competitive environment that will both develop their soccer skills as well as their love for the game.
On July 15 the Redbirds will host their final ID camp of the summer. The camp will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and T-shirts and lunch will be provided. It is open to girls from grades eight through 12 and will be capped at 40 participants.
