NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head soccer coach Brad Silvey has announced the first ever goalkeeper-specific camp at ISU. Instruction and coaching for the camp will be provided by assistant soccer coach and goalkeeping coach Sarah Tompkins. This camp is also the only goalkeeper-specific camp offered by a Division I University in the state of Illinois for 2017.
"We are very excited to be hosting one of the only goalkeeping camps in Illinois," Tompkins said. "This position is a key asset to the game that is often under developed. We look forward to working with individuals who want to elevate their game."
The goalkeeping camp is designed for those that aspire to take their goalkeeping to the next level. This camp is open to middle school through high school-aged boys and girls, with an emphasis on the technical, tactical, nutritional and psychological sides of goalkeeping. Real-time video feedback will be provided to campers throughout the session. There will be three on-field sessions, a video session, and a nutritional session throughout the day.
The camp will be capped at 20 participants to provide individualized attention and will be instructed by the Illinois State soccer staff and players. The camp will be held on July 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost of the camp is $100 and will include lunch and a t-shirt.
