NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head soccer coach Brad Silvey announced the team's spring schedule Tuesday. Between February 25 and April 28, the Redbirds will play three games, two tournaments, and one intra-squad scrimmage.
"Both the staff and team are excited to begin our spring games," said Silvey. "We have a great lineup of contests that will test and challenge us and we look forward to the growth we will experience along the way. By design, we will be on the road for the majority of our spring dates in preparation for a heavy travel schedule in the fall. We have a great group of returning student-athletes that are extremely motivated and driven right now, so we are looking forward to improving our overall development with the addition of these upcoming competition dates."
The Redbirds begin their spring season February 25 at Illinois in their annual 7-on-7 tournament, where they'll face opponents Dayton, DePaul, UIC, and Illinois.
ISU will also play in the Illinois State – Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on March 31. They will face Illinois Wesleyan at home and play Eastern Illinois at Illinois Wesleyan the same day.
The Redbirds will then travel to Rockford, IL where they will play Milwaukee at a neutral site. ISU defeated Milwaukee 2-1 at home in an exhibition game during the 2017 season. They will then host a Red and White 7-on-7 scrimmage at Adelaide Street Field April 14. ISU will travel back to Champaign to face Illinois April 20 and finish their spring schedule April 28 at Western Illinois. The Redbirds defeated Illinois, 2-0, and Western, 1-0 during the 2017 season.
