Redbirds Return to Adelaide Street Field to Host Omaha

Illinois State (3-4-2) is prepped to host the Omaha Mavericks (2-5-1) at Adelaide Street Field at noon on Sunday. Sunday's contest will be the first match of a three-game homestand for the Redbirds, after having been away nearly a month on a seven-game road trip.

The match will be streamed on ESPN+ but requires a subscription. Fans can follow along with live stats or @Redbird_Soccer on Twitter for in-game updates. 

Omaha – What You Need to Know

The Mavericks fell in a 3-1 decision to Ball State Friday night in Muncie, Indiana. After a scoreless first half, Omaha got on the board first, thanks to a goal by senior Emily Romero that was put past the keeper to the far post. Ball State outshot Omaha 9-7 and 8-3 on shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Erin Bunker made five saves on nine shots faced.

Omaha has been outscored 12-4 in their first eight games and Emily Romero has a team-high 16 shots with eight shots on goal. Erin Bunker and Ina Gudjonsdottir have split time in goal this season, combining for 35 saves between them and a 1.46 goals allowed average.

Last Time Out

Illinois State (3-4-2) topped the Toledo Rockets (3-3-1) in a 2-1 victory in Toledo, Ohio, Friday afternoon. Mikayla Unger and Alix McArthur scored for the Redbirds, each coming off the bench to tally their second goals of the season. Solid defense and an excellent effort in goal by reigning MVC Defensive Player of the Week Haley Smith proved to stifle Toledo's offense in the second half. Smith had three saves in goal off of 13 shots faced.

Promotions

Sunday's match will also serve as Reggie's Kids Club Day! The first 100 Reggie's Kids Club members in attendance will receive a mini Redbird soccer ball and players will be available for autographs post-game. The concession special will be $2 ice cream.
