COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Redbirds turned in impressive finishes and broke a pair of ISU school records today on the first day of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships. The quartet of Kierston Farley-Sepe, Jensen Keck, Morgan Clark and Jessica Nichols rewrote the 200-yard medley relay record, while Farley-Sepe's split in the 50-yard backstroke helped the newcomer break the ISU mark.
The relay team touched the wall third, finishing with a time of 1:41.65 to erase the previous school record of 1:42.50. Farley-Sepe's split within that relay broke yet another school record, as the junior broke the 50-yard backstroke record turning in a time of 25.64 – 0.03 seconds faster than the existing time in the event.
ISU's 800-yard relay team of Savannah Rubocki, Katie Tillotson, Liz Thull and Morgan Rosser took fourth place, working together to clock in a final time of 7:31.41.
"We are very excited and proud with how our team started this meet," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "Our medley relays were very good, with our 'A' relay breaking the school record to start as off. Our 800-yard freestyle relay was very solid with all four girls swimming great races. This is a very strong start for us, and the confidence that those swims built will be great as we move into day two of the meet. I'm very excited to see this team continue to build momentum and swim fast."
