Women’s Tennis Takes On Marquette in First Road Match

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team will head north to Marquette on Saturday, Feb. 9 as they begin their three-game road swing. The Redbirds played the first six games of the spring season at their home court, going 5-1 over that stretch.

Freshman Tara Damnjanovic leads the team and is currently undefeated in singles play with a 4-0 record. The freshman has stepped up for the 'Birds, playing primarily in the No.1 and 2 spots.

Marquette enters the match with a 2-2 overall record after falling to Wisconsin and Indiana last weekend. Sophomore Natalija Popovic will be a key player to watch for the Golden Eagles, as she is coming off of a Big East Rookie of the Year campaign. The Redbirds last played the Golden Eagles in the 2016 season, when they fell to Marquette 0-7.
