Former Redbird soccer player Angel Krell has inked a professional contract with French soccer team Stade Brestois 29.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to play professional soccer," said Krell. "I would like to thank my family for their unwavering support throughout my career, as well as my teammates and coaching staff at ISU for preparing me to play at the next level."
Stade Brestois 29 is a Division 2 Féminine professional soccer club located in Brest, France. Krell will make the move to France this Friday to participate in preseason with the squad, with the season opener set for Sept. 7.
"We are all very proud of Angel and excited to see her take her talents overseas," said Illinois State soccer head coach Brad Silvey. "She has always been very driven within the game and consistently pushing to raise her level. Everyone in the Redbird soccer family is looking forward to following her success."
The Stacy, Minnesota native graduated from Illinois State in May 2019 with a degree in Marketing. During her three-year career with the Redbirds, Krell appeared in 56 games, logging over 2,100 minutes with six goals and an assist.
"This has been a longtime dream of mine," Krell said. "I can't wait to get started with Stade Brestois 29!"
