The Illinois State soccer team will be back at home this weekend, hosting two matches at Adelaide Street Field. Friday's match versus Utah State will be designated as Halle's Game and Sunday's game with Western Illinois will serve as the annual Heidecke Day.
Halle's Game – 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13       Â
Get to Adelaide Street Field early, to cheer on Redbird soccer super fan Halle Bloom as she looks to score the opening goal in Friday's match. Concessions will have Dollar Dogs ($1 hotdogs) and back by popular demand, $2 Icees.
Heidecke Day – 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15   Â
Fans, friends, family, and alumni of the Illinois State soccer program are invited to help the team honor former soccer player Julie Heidecke at Sunday's game. On April 29, 1998, Julie Heidecke was involved in an automobile accident that ended her life. In her one season with the Redbirds, Heidecke's personality and demeanor inspired teammates and coaches. As a result, former head coach Pete Kowall, the Julie Heidecke Foundation and ISU Athletics established an award in her memory to recognize a Redbird soccer player following Heidecke's path to commitment, spirit, determination, leadership, sportsmanship, academics, morality and concern for others.
The concession special on Sunday will be $5 walking tacos.
