Illinois State soccer senior Kate Del Fava was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Del Fava continues to standout in her senior season, collecting her first career hat trick on Sunday afternoon in Illinois State's 4-3 loss to Big Ten opponent Iowa. Del Fava's scoring kept the Redbirds in the game with the Hawkeyes, with her third goal knotting the score at 3-3 with only 20 minutes remaining in regulation. She combined for 174 minutes played in Illinois State's two matches over the weekend and has scored five goals on only seven shots this season, placing all of them on goal.
Del Fava currently leads the Missouri Valley Conference in goals (5) and points (10). This is her third career MVC Player of the Week honor.
The Redbirds return to Adelaide Street Field to begin a four-game homestand on Friday, taking on Northern Illinois at 7 p.m. The team will also celebrate Local Heroes Night on that evening, honoring all local heroes and veterans in the community.
