NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team will travel down Interstate 55 to Edwardsville to take on the SIUE Cougars on Friday, February 14, at 2 p.m.

"This will be a great challenge for us. We know will have to bring great energy and compete at a high level to put ourselves in the best position to win."
The Redbirds (4-2) are coming into the match after going undefeated last weekend. On Saturday, the team had a great showing at home defeating Western Illinois,6-1. On Sunday, the 'Birds hit the road and travelled to Indianapolis to compete against IUPUI and won that match, 4-1.
Senior Natalia Bravo and sophomore Tara Damnjanovic were named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week for their performances against Western Illinois and IUPUI last weekend. On Saturday, the duo took down Western Illinois' Laura Ballesteros and Nikhita Simhambhatla in a 6-4 win. On Sunday, the duo helped the Redbirds clinch the doubles point by taking the match against IUPUI's Gabbi Ochalik and Krystal Grubb, 6-3.
About SIUE:
The Cougars are currently 4-1 this season, which includes a 4-1 win over MVC foe Bradley. They also are coming into this match after going undefeated last weekend, taking down Butler on Saturday and McKendree on Sunday. SIUE is coached by Adam Albertson, who is on his second season at the helm. Before coming to SIUE in 2018, Albertson coached the Montavello women's tennis team to its best season ever, with a record of 21-3.
