NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team is heading to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on Nebraska on March 7 at 4:30 p.m., and Wyoming on March 8 at 11 a.m.
Illinois State (5-5) returns to the road after finishing second in the Redbird Invitational this past weekend at the Bloomington Tennis Center. The Redbirds took down Dayton 4-1 in the first round to advance to the championship. There the 'Birds fought hard, but ultimately fell short against Bowling Green State 4-2. Junior Ivon Mihaleva had a great showing for the Redbirds during the Invitational, defeating Dayton's Natalie Allen 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot and taking down Bowling Green's Laura Silveira 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.
About Nebraska:
Nebraska is currently 9-3 on the season and is on a four-match win streak coming into this weekend. The Cornhuskers also boasted the No. 14 recruiting class in the nation this season, adding four freshmen to the class. The team is led by Head Coach Scott Jacobson who has spent 29 seasons as the Head Coach with the Huskers.
About Wyoming:
Wyoming is 7-2 this season and is currently riding a two-match win streak into this weekend's matchups. The Cowgirls are led by head coach Dean Clower, who is currently in season nine with the program. Clower is the winningest coach in the program's history with a record of 112-68 and 32-13 in league play.
