ST. LOUIS – Another undefeated weekend for the tandem of Jelena Karla Vujicic and Alicja Zduniak has resulted in the duo being named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week for the third-consecutive time by the league Wednesday.
"Jelena and Alicja continue to play with confidence and composure," ISU head coach Maja Kovacek said. "Their hard work in practice is really paying off and it's exciting to see them get recognized for a third week."
Vujicic and Zduniak just kept on rolling for the Redbirds in a pair of wins last week over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois. Playing at the No. 3 doubles spot in both matches, Vujicic and Zduniak only dropped three games in quick 6-1 and 6-2 wins to help the Redbirds earn the doubles point in wins over. With two more wins, Vujicic and Zduniak remain undefeated as a team on the season at 8-0 overall.
Illinois State is back in action this weekend with a pair of matches at Dayton on Saturday and DePauw on Sunday.
