NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State senior standout Caroline Lecoeur has been featured in this week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, the league office announced on Friday.
A psychology major, and international studies and mass media double minor, Lecoeur has maintained an impressive 3.78 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) in the classroom. The Lyon, France, native is a two-time College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team selection. Lecoeur has also been presented with the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, as well as earned a spot on the AFNI and MVC Honor Roll lists in every possible semester.
In addition to being a Division I student-athlete, Lecoeur has volunteered with several community partners in her time as a Redbird. She also serves as a production assistant with ISU Athletics' Redbird Productions team and works with an on-campus student media group.
The senior is just as impressive on the boards, as she was selected to the CSCAA All-America team at the conclusion of last season for the 3-meter event, after qualifying with adjusted selection criteria due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lecoeur is a three-time all-conference performer and was tabbed the Valley's Diver of the Year in 2019.
"During her time as a Redbird, Caro has grown as a leader on the boards and in the classroom," head coach Caitlin Hamilton expressed. "She challenges herself and her teammates daily to be the best student-athletes they can be."
To qualify for the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
