NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State women's tennis head coach Maja Kovacek announced the addition of Northern Illinois transfer Maria Potsi to the team's 2021-22 roster on Wednesday.
Potsi currently competes for Northern Illinois and will head to Illinois State as a graduate transfer after the spring season.
"We're really excited to add Maria to the squad," Kovacek said. "She has a ton of experience and is familiar with the competition in the Midwest and the MVC. She's having a lot of success this year and we got to see that firsthand when we played NIU earlier this month."
A native of Athens, Greece, Potsi is currently 13-5 this spring playing at the No. 1 spot for the Huskies. During the shortened 2019-20 season, she posted a 12-9 overall mark, including a 9-5 record at No. 1 singles. As a sophomore during the 2018-19 season, Potsi recorded a 7-9 overall record and tallied a 5-1 record at No. 2 singles. In her debut campaign, Potsi finished with a with a 14-16 overall record, playing primarily at No. 2 singles.
