IOWA CITY, Iowa – On the first day of the Missouri Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, Illinois State's 800-yard freestyle relay team narrowly took down a 2015 school record to take third place overall.
Olivia Gonder, Emma Feltzer, Makenna Licking and Diana Walker combined for a time of 7:25.12, etching their names in the Redbird record book after swimming the fastest 800-yard freestyle relay time since Yontz, Verkler, Paskoff and Holm's time of 7:25.80 seven years ago.
Day two of the four-day event will kick off tomorrow, Thursday, February 16 with the 500-yard freestyle prelims at 11 a.m. at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center on the campus of the University of Iowa.
