Zlatanovic Named MVC Singles Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS – For the second time this season, Illinois State sophomore Tijana Zlatanovic has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

She was previously named the MVC Singles Player of the Week on February 1, after going 3-0 for the Redbirds at the No. 1 spot against UIS, Chicago State and IUPUI. 

Zlatanovic led the way for the Redbirds at No. 1 singles in a pair of wins for the Redbirds this weekend in Omaha. In Saturday's 6-1 win, she defeated Omaha's Madison Gallegos in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) and then took down Creighton's Kate Krueger in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) on Sunday in a 5-2 win over Creighton. The two team victories for the Redbirds improved their spring record to 6-3 overall.

The Redbirds return to action on Saturday, February 26, with a home match at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
