NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Track & Field wrapped up day one of competition of the Redbird Challenge, as sophomore Amiri Buchanan cracked the ISU all-time top-10 list in the hammer throw with a personal best throw of 56.58m (185-7 ft.) to place fifth.
Senior Logan Calvin placed as the top Redbird for the Illinois State men, tossing a season best of 59.72m (195-11 ft.) to finish third. Calvin's mark ranks No. 2 in the MVC and No. 56 in the NCAA West Region.
On the women's side, sophomore Morgan Wrublik set a personal best with a throw 51.76m (169-9 ft.) to finish third in the hammer. Behind Wrublik, senior Hannah Johnson notched a season best while sophomore Catie Daily and freshman Taylor Kesner set personal bests.
Through four events in the women's heptathlon, sophomore Caleigh O'Flaherty leads the field, sitting at 2,484 points. O'Flaherty set a collegiate personal best in the high jump at 1.57m (5-1.75 ft.). Freshman Gracie Jessup sits in second at 2,474 points.
In the men's decathlon, sophomore Ariel Atias sits in first through five events at 3,721 points after setting personal bests in the long jump, high jump, 100m dash and 400m dash. Junior Caleb Miedema and sophomore Chase Knoblett sit in second and third, respectively.
