ST. LOUIS – For the third time this season, Illinois State's No. 1 doubles team Tijana Zlatanovic and Tara Damnjanovic were named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday by the league office.
Zlatanovic and Damnjanovic capped off the regular season with a strong win for the Redbirds against the tough Czerwonka sisters from Valparaiso. Zlatanovic and Damnjanovic gutted out a 6-3 win to help ISU secure the early doubles point and eventually the 6-1 team win over the Beacons. With the victory, the pair improved to 4-1 at the No. 1 spot for the Redbirds in MVC play and brought their dual season record to 14-7 overall.
The No. 2 seed Redbirds will take on the No. 7 seed Missouri State Bears in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Tennis Championship on Friday, April 22, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. First serve is set for Noon.
