NORMAL, Ill. – Redbird soccer star, Katharine Ashley, was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Second-Team as announced by the league office on Friday.
The Saint Paul, Minnesota native started and played in all 16 games for the Redbirds, finishing her career with 3,991 total minutes played. She helped lead the 'Birds to two one nil victories over both Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois while also anchoring the defense to a 2.38 GAA. Ashley also led the charge in holding both Belmont and SIU to only 4 shots in both teams matches against the 'Birds.
Ashley graduated in May of 2023 with a 3.81 GPA earning her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, with a minor in Psychology. As a member of the Public Health graduate program, Ashley currently holds a 4.0 GPA. In the 2022-23 season, she earned the MVC Board of Directors Academic Award, MVC Commissioner's Excellence Award, and MVC Honor Roll. She will continue pursuing her graduate degree after finishing her career with Redbird soccer.
