Fashina-Bombata Resets School Record as Redbirds Conclude Gary Wieneke and Michael Johnson Invitationals

WACO, Texas – Illinois State Track & Field closed out competition at both the Gary Wieneke and Michael Johnson Invitationals on Saturday, as three Redbirds and one relay squad etched their names into the program record book with their performances.

ALL GAS, NO BRAKES AT BAYLOR

It was quite the day for Hassy Fashina-Bombata on Saturday as the senior would be on full display in both the women's 100m hurdles and 100m dash. First, Fashina-Bombata would qualify for the event finals of the women's 100m hurdles after running to a time of 13.56 Saturday morning.

Then, in the event finals later in the day, the Canada native would make her mark and etch her name in the ISU record book once more. With a finals time of 13.29, the speedster would break her own school record in the event, set two weeks ago at the Joe Walker Invite.

However, the day would not be done for Fashina-Bombata as she would run in the women's 100m, setting the fourth fastest outdoor event time with a time of 11.59.

The final event of the meet, the men's 4x400m relay saw ISU's Raydoffa Braziel, Enyinnaya Nwagwu Jr., Jaylin Holmes, and Edward Watkins run to a season best time of 3:08.87 (sixth place), placing the quartet with the fifth fastest event time in program history.

The Redbirds would also see Brandon Ratliff in action during the men's 100m hurdles on Saturday. After qualifying for the event finals with a prelims time of 14.29, Ratliff gathered seventh place with a season best time of 14.06 in the finals.

Raydoffa Braziel would showcase his talents in the men's 400m, as the Flint native ran to a finals time of 46.73. This not only sets a new personal best for Braziel but places him in possession of seventh all-time for the event in program history.

Out in the field, it was Taylor Kesner shining bright in the women's shot put as she placed seventh in the field with a mark of 14.46m/47-05.25, good enough for a personal best for the sophomore.

Finally, back on the track, sophomore Devin Turner ran in the men's 100m as the Columbia, Missouri native ran a season best time of 10.78 as he placed 31st overall Saturday.
