MICHAEL JOHNSON & GARY WIENEKE INVITATIONALS
Last time out, the Redbirds were split between the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas as well as down the road in Champaign for the Gary Wieneke Invitational. Â
It was quite the Saturday for senior Hassy Fashina-Bombata, who would reset a program record as well as capture another top-10 event time, all in the matter of a couple events.
On the last day of competition in Waco, Fashina-Bombata clocked a time of 11.59 in the women's 100m, setting the fourth fastest event time for a Redbird. Her time ranks No. 5 in the MVC, No. 13 in the Midwest Region, and No. 52 on the NCAA DI West Outdoor Qualifying List.
Only a few events later, the senior would compete in the finals of the women's 100m hurdles. Competing alongside some top-tier and Power Five competitors, Fashina-Bombata would finish in with a time of 13.29, breaking her own previous event school record which, she set in early April at the Joe Walker Invite.
Her time ranks No. 1 in the MVC, No. 4 in the Midwest region, and No. 17 on the NCAA DI West Outdoor Qualifying List.
In addition to Hickey, six individuals and one relay squad cracked the ISU all-time top-10 list.
