NORMAL, Ill – Illinois State (0-3-1) opened its 2023 season with losses to Indiana (3-0-1), Butler (1-3), and North Dakota (0-3), but fought for a 2-2 draw against Oakland.
In the upcoming week, the Redbirds look to pick up their first victories of the season against Eastern Illinois (1-2-2) and Western Illinois (1-3-1).

- Freshman Katie O'Malley picked up her first collegiate goal in the second minute of the match against Oakland. Another first-year, Ava Watson picked up the first assist of her collegiate career on the second goal of the match, Haley Glover's right footed goal from inside the box.
- Glover's goal racked up the double assist from both Watson and Sydney Smith.
- Against Indiana, Freshman Julia Liguore scored the first Illinois State goal of the season against Indiana. The goal was the first of Liguore's collegiate career and the assist from Katie O'Malley marked her first tally as well.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Eastern Illinois has five games under its belt, with its only win coming against Illinois Springfield. The Panthers have also tied both Purdue Fort Wayne and Indiana State in the two games leading up to their meeting with the Redbirds.
Western Illinois also only has one victory to its name coming in a one nil win against Chicago State. The Leathernecks will take on Green Bay before taking on the Redbirds on Sunday.Â
