Swim and Dive Travels to Cedar Falls for Two-Day Meet Against UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa,--  The Illinois State Swim and Dive team will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa to compete against Missouri Valley Conference foe UNI in a two-day meet on January 17 and 18. Competition will begin with diving at 3 p.m. on Friday and resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday inside Glen F. Henry Pool.

ALL-TIME MEETINGS


This week's competition will be the 21st all-time meeting between the Panthers and Redbirds, with ISU leading the series 14-5-1 over UNI. The first official NCAA meet between the respective schools ended in a 237-63 Illinois State win during the 2005-06 season in Cedar Falls.

LAST TIME OUT


Illinois State swimming concluded a Senior Day win over Quincy last Saturday, winning 12 of 14 events to secure a 174-80 win over the Hawks.

Of the 12 event wins, six came from the efforts of four Redbird seniors in Lauren Wisdom, Emma Feltzer, Sydney Hoff and Mia Snow. In the relays, the Birds were led by the team of Chloe Tyler, Hoff, Snow and Feltzer in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:46.21.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS


UNI competed against Big-12 foe Iowa State on January 11 in Ames, Iowa inside Beyer Hall, falling to the Cyclones 180-116. This week's meet against ISU will be the first "Valley" meet for UNI of the year.

REDBIRDS IN THE VALLEY (top-10)


  • Emma Feltzer is fifth in the 50-free with a time of 22.99. Feltzer is also eighth in the 100-free with a time of 50.32.

  • Chloe Tyler ranks ninth in the 50y- backstroke (26.27). Tyler also sits eighth in the 100y- backstroke (55.72), as well as eighth in the 200y-backstroke (2:01.66).

  • Sydney Hoff ranks seventh in the 200y-breastroke (2:16.67).

  • Mia Snow sits ninth in the 50-fly (25.44). 

  • 1-meter diving- Eva Reyes (first, 283.65), Selena Corona (second, 229.35), Emma Thompson (third, 224.25), Isabel Poggenklass (fourth, 180.15)

  • 3-meter diving- Reyes (first, 261.38), Corona (second, 232.80), Thompson (third, 212.90), Poggenklass (fourth, 186.00)

  • Platform diving- Reyes (second, 184.30), Corona (third, 160.70)

UP NEXT


The Redbirds will travel to Chicago, Illinois to finish the regular season at the UIC Diving Invite on Feb. 8. Action will open up at 11 a.m.
